Hammams have been woven into Istanbul’s daily life for centuries, inheriting traditions from Roman and Byzantine bathhouses and reshaped under the Ottomans into something uniquely their own. More than places to bathe, hammams were social institutions and centers of ritual, relaxation, and community. Steam, marble, and water created a shared rhythm where class distinctions softened and time slowed.
Knowing the importance of Hammams, we just had to try one in Istanbul. We chose Cagaloglu Hamami, Built 1741 and opted for the Sultan Mahmud the First experience, which included:
-15 min. hot room rest
-10 min. rubbing with kese by two therapists
-35 min. bubble bath (foam massage) by two therapists
-15 min. foot massage
-Collagen mask application
-45 min. aromatherapy massage (in private room)
The package also includes snacks such as Turkish tea, home-made sherbet, Turkish
Delights, and fruits. We also received a gift bag with a hamam towel, cologne, shampoo, and soap. To learn more, go to:
